This was one of the first photos I took with my Rebel XSi. I still think it's one of my favorite shots of the D.C. metro. Believe it or not, this was handheld (1/15s) - that in-lens image stabilization really helps!

Beautiful shot... the IS really is amazing. Try coupling that with an L series lens.. it is yet another level in photography.
